Toddler’s Place

Toddler’s Place can now be found on Squidoo! As of today, Toddler’s Place has another home… at Squidoo. What’s really awesome about this new lens at Squidoo is that we are donating 100 percent of the royalties we earn at Squidoo to our charity of choice, The March of Dimes. Not only do we donate 100 percent of our royalties from Squidoo from this lens to the March of Dimes, but from all of our 14 lenses! Please visit our new lens at Squidoo and  pass the URL along to friends and family members.

The March of Dimes is the leading nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health, dedicated to improving the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.  They do this through research, community services, education and advocacy to save babies’ lives. March of Dimes researchers, volunteers, educators, outreach workers and advocates work together to give all babies a fighting chance against the threats to their health: prematurity, birth defects, low birthweight. We can’t think of a better charity for us to donate our Squidoo royalties!

Toddler T-shirts and Gifts

Kids sure do love cookies! My grandkids, ages 4 1/2 and a bit over one sure do.  My little granddaughter had her first taste of cookie several weeks back. She is a bit of a finicky eater, especially when tasting something for the first time. Not so with the cookie! She loved it from the get go, going back to the counter, standing up on her toes with arms and fingers stretched trying to get another taste of that ooey gooey sweet stuff she so enjoyed. She wasn’t able to, so she began to point and make noises. She isn’t able to talk yet but her body movements and baby talk made it quite apparent that girl wanted cookies! She didn’t get anymore that evening. In the morning she had her plan of attack all laid out. She decided to try the standing on the toes pointing thing again, but added a new bit of ammo to her plan. She refused to eat anything else! Now she’ll usually eat her breakfast quite well, but not that morning. Nope, that girl was holding out for cookies! Mom won that battle!

Her second taste of cookies came at ahem…Grandmas house! Yes, that would be me! Grandma!  I’m a very busy working grandma who hasn’t done much in the line of baking for months and so, when I saw those delightful cookies they sell in the dairy case already sliced on a tray for baking with cute halloween ghosts imprinted in the cookie, I couldn’t resist. And so the grandkids were here and my grandson who by the way also totally loves cookies, set them onto the cookie sheet and we waited. Both children went over to peek in the glass window of the oven quite a few times in the ten minutes they take to bake. And then, the magic moment. The cookies were ready to eat! My grandson was allotted two cookies. He broke them up into about six pieces each to make them last longer and so it seemed to him he had a lot more than the two little cookies he was allowed to have. My granddaughter, the little blond haired cookie monster, was allotted one, which she gobbled up quite quickly and then proceeded to stand on her toes trying to reach for more. We know she’s just a baby, but really, she never gets treats, and so….we did it, we splurged and let the baby have yet another cookie! Oh joy!

Saw this shirt just now at Tee Wit Baby and couldn’t help but laugh. It totally reminded me of my son in law and little granddaughter. My son in law is often in charge of getting my one year old granddaughter dressed out of her jammies into her outfit of the moment (and I do mean moment because we  all know how many times a day a baby needs changing!) because my daughter is at school ie she’s a kindergarten teacher. I hate to say it but he has the worst sense of style when it comes to dressing a baby girl. She has gorgeous clothes as she’s been spoiled a bit and on top of that my daughter hits garage sales frequently and finds gorgeous name brand clothes that look like they’ve never been worn. Yet, she’ll come home from school to see the baby girl dressed in the most awfully put together outfits, colors that dont’ match up, things that just don’t go together, etc. So, this shirt is perfect for him! How easy is that, just grab this shirt, put it on, and you’re admitting to the fact you just cannot manage a baby girls wardrobe. This T-shirt is sure to get a few second looks and chuckles!
